How to Use Microsoft Edge Like a Pro

Microsoft Edge is a powerful web browser that comes pre-installed with Windows 10. While it may not have been the most popular choice in the past, Microsoft has made significant improvements to Edge, and it now offers a range of features that can enhance your browsing experience. In this article, we will explore some tips and tricks to help you use Microsoft Edge like a pro.

1. Customize Your Start Page

One of the first things you can do to make Edge your own is to customize your start page. By default, Edge displays a personalized news feed, but you can change this to a specific website or a blank page. To do this, click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser, go to “Settings,” and under the “Open Microsoft Edge with” section, select your preferred option.

2. Use Collections to Organize Your Research

Collections is a feature in Microsoft Edge that allows you to gather and organize content from the web. Whether you’re doing research for a project or planning a trip, Collections can help you keep everything in one place. To create a collection, click on the Collections icon in the top-right corner of the browser, and then click on the “Start new collection” button. You can add webpages, images, and even notes to your collection, making it a valuable tool for staying organized.

3. Take Advantage of Tab Management

If you’re someone who tends to have multiple tabs open at once, Edge offers some useful features to help you manage them. You can choose to pin tabs that you frequently visit by right-clicking on the tab and selecting “Pin.” Pinned tabs will stay open even if you close and reopen the browser. Additionally, you can use the “Set these tabs aside” feature to temporarily save a group of tabs and open them later. To do this, click on the icon with two arrows pointing to the left in the top-left corner of the browser.

4. Use Reading View for Distraction-Free Reading

When you come across an article or blog post that you want to read without any distractions, you can use the Reading View feature in Edge. This feature removes ads, sidebars, and other clutter, providing you with a clean and focused reading experience. To activate Reading View, click on the book icon in the address bar. You can also adjust the font size and style to suit your preferences.

5. Try the Immersive Reader for Enhanced Reading

If you struggle with reading online content, particularly long articles or text-heavy websites, the Immersive Reader feature in Edge can be a game-changer. It removes distractions, highlights each word as it is read aloud, and allows you to adjust the font size, spacing, and background color. To access Immersive Reader, click on the book icon in the address bar and then click on the “Immersive Reader” button.

6. Use Extensions to Enhance Functionality

Like other modern browsers, Microsoft Edge supports extensions that can add extra functionality to your browsing experience. Whether you want to block ads, manage passwords, or improve productivity, there are various extensions available in the Microsoft Store. To browse and install extensions, click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser, go to “Extensions,” and then click on “Get extensions from Microsoft Store.”

7. Sync Your Data Across Devices

If you use Microsoft Edge on multiple devices, you can take advantage of the syncing feature to access your bookmarks, history, passwords, and other data across all your devices. To enable syncing, click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser, go to “Settings,” and under the “Profiles” section, click on “Sync.” Sign in with your Microsoft account, and choose the data you want to sync.

By following these tips and tricks, you can make the most of Microsoft Edge and enhance your browsing experience. Whether you’re a casual user or a power user, these features can help you navigate the web more efficiently and effectively.
